This is the first blog that I have done in 5 years. I will be talking about the film 'A Simple Favor'.
A Simple Favor was directed by Paul Feig who has directed films with actor Melissa McCarthy such as Ghostbusters, Spy, Bridesmaids and The Heat. The first that I watched A Simple Favor, I instantly fell in love with it. The characters change throughout the film, it becomes apparent that the two female characters are in control in this film. We have Stephanie Smothers played by Anna Kendrick who is quite innocent in the beginning of the film, she over volunteers for extra curricular activities and is quite lonely as well. On the other hand we have Emily Nelson who is completely different, she swears a lot, she likes martinis and works as a fashion P.R in the city.
Emily asks Stephanie for 'A Simple Favor' to pick her kid Nicky up from school. Emily goes missing and Stephanie starts to discover that she didn't know Emily as much as she thought she did. Stephanie is handing out missing posters of Emily and goes to her place of work to ask them if they had heard from her at all. Emily is found dead and her body is pulled out of a lake but the body shows sign of heroin use and alcohol consumption.
This is where things get really interesting. Emily is actually called Hope and she has a twin sister called Faith who actually had another sister called Charity who died in the womb. In the backstory, it is revealed that Hope (Emily) and Faith started a fire in a wing of their house killing their abusive father in the process. They went their separate ways but refused to have their pictures taken as they would be arrested. So it transpires that Faith was blackmailing Hope (Emily) for money or she was going to tell the police everything and they would both be arrested. Emily kills her which is the body who was found in the lake. The final confrontation is very dramatic and violent. Stephanie and Sean (Emily's husband) are working together to take down Emily and get her arrested. Stephanie and Emily both shoot Sean, one is real and one is fake. Stephanie is the genius for using a small camera and getting Emily arrested.
